How old is the battery? Do you have a multimeter?

Hello, Assuming that you have a good battery you need to place a multimeter at the battery terminals and check to see if your getting at least 12 /12 volts at idle and up to 13-14 at higher RPMs. The first thing to check is your connections. Poor connections can cause havoc. If not the problem is most likely with the regulator which should be relatively easy and inexpensive to replace. The regulators on newer vehicles should have the rectifier built in and should be solid state. There are generally two types of charging systems, one that charges on the plus side of 12 volts all the time such as the system on certain GM vehicles and the ones that charge on demand. The later systems sense a need for charging and will send a signal to the regulator. Most likely if your regulator is showing ANY voltage output at all the generator/alternator is working. If your regulator is bad you will have to check your generator/alternator for output and you should be able to check this at the connections going to the regulator with a multimeter. Since I do not know these vehicles I suggest a manual for the procedure. The generator/alternator should only have about one or two wires and should put out about a substantial amount of voltage in AC current. Good luck.

on alot of atv's the voltage regulator is part of the cdi box. you also have a stator either behind the flywheel or in the side cover in front of the flywheel.
usually there are two bobbins in the stator for ignition and the rest are for charging and running lights. check the acid level in the battery, (carefully) and once you have eliminated the battery look at the stator and the cdi.
