Hi, we just bought a used Polaris 500 (2005 model).. took it riding yesterday and found that it is tough getting it into gear.. takes a lot of muscle to move the shifter.. is this normal? (this is my first automatic atv so please excuse my ignorance). Also, the "foot brake" doesnt appear to be an actual brake, just something used to change the gears into park or high.. any thoughts on that?
thanks in advance!!

Check engine idle speed.Should be around 1100rpm.Any higher than that makes shifting difficult.Make sure rear brake lever is making contact with rear slave brake cylinder.Levers tend to bend and miss the cylinder.
