I bought a used 97 polaris express. When your at quarter throttle and jump on the throttle it boggs down. I changed the air filter and a friend that knows quads well helped clean the carborator. We put it back together and the same thing. Before anyone asks it is a K&N air filter if it would  matter. His thought are change spark plug and/or rebuild the carburator.  Any other ideas that  may  help?

some of the k&n filters require adjusting the fuel mixture.

do a plug chop and see what color you are getting at the plug.

it also could be the needle you are running is inadequate and you may need a needle with a different taper.

Hi given that it is a 97 model I think you might want to do a compression test it being a 2 cycle atv it sounds like it might be time for a set of rings it is a good ideal to have your oil injector checked too they become sluggish after time a and require adjustments both cable and mechanical
