Hi.I have a 1993 Honda 300ex quad.Just recently I ran into a problem. The quad starts and idles fine. When I hit the gas though it begins to rev then bogs down as if it's choking or starving for fuel. The air filter is clean, the spark looks good and it's getting fuel.Any ideas?Any help is greatly appreciated.Thanx.

just clean the carb. you may have got something bad that ran throught your gas and gummed it all up in there.

if that doesnt work then its more complex as to the jetting of the wheeler. you may need to tweek the air/fuel mixture, or even re jet it. im banking on it being dirty though.

Like FmxLevi said I would clean the carb..

I would also check the fuel flow from the shutoff valve to the carb. and make sure you have enough gas in the fuel tank.

Have you checked the fuel tank and fuel shutoff valve filter for gunk/debris?

When you apply the throttle, the fuel bowl has to fill up at a faster rate and send it to the engine to keep it running. If gunk/debris interrupts the flow of fuel, it will lean the mixture causing the engine to try and shut down. The gunk/debris may or may not affect the engine at idle.

Improper jetting, improper carb. adjustments, improper ignition timing, improper valve clearance, and a small air leak could also cause this problem.

I am having the same problem with my 02 and after a lot of frustration I made a big discovery today. The air box is conected to the frame. If your atv has ever been in the mud, there is a good chance that some of this mud has clogged the air passages in the frame. You can chec this by simply taking off the airbox lid and go for a ride down the road. If doesnt bog, your framing is clogged inside. What I am going to do is remve the airbox and clean inside the framing that connects to it so more airflow can come through. Good Luck.

I rebuilt the carb with no change in performance.I had disconnected the air filter with no change. The fuel seems to flow fine from the tank. What next?

Latest update:Problem remains.I've cleaned the tank, cleaned the filter in the tank, cleaned the fuel valve in the tank, and cleaned the carb(again).Could it be a compression issue? There are a few other checks I can make that honda_rida13 had mentioned but other than that I'm out of ideas. At this point I'm ready to push this thing in front of a moving train.

check compression also check valves.
did you check the intake and air filter boots to be sire there are no cracks in them?

also when you installed the floats make sure you didn't get them in upside down.

check the spark plug what color is it?
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!
