Hello, I just purchased from a friend a 1987 ltr 250 suzuki. He told me that it did not run. And he also pointed out to me that the Waterpump Shaft itself is broke, it doesnt seem to be long enough to enter the impeller. Well, i put it all back together. I pulled the spark plug on it and saw that it looks good, and its getting plenty of spark. I checked the fuel and its getting that. So i figured it should run. I played with the choke and put new oil, gas, antifreeze in it. And it started up, and is idiling ok i think. I dont have the impeller hooked up so i only had it on for a little bit to see how it ran. IT did not have a powerband, it would rev up if i gave it gas but did not have a powerband. I called a local dealer and explained this to them. They said i probably have to put new piston/rings in it and fix the waterpump and i should be good to go. Does anyone know nething about this, or how i would fix the waterpump and what exactly i have to do.

i am not too familiar with 2 strokes but if its not hitting the power band then i would think that is in the piston rings, or something in the cylinder. and with the waterpump, i would just say replace it and be done with it.
