2007 trx400 no electric start or lights

im new to this atv riding,i ride dirt bikes and im used to kicking,i just picked up a 2007 trx400ex and its beast dont get me wrong,but the electrics on it went out and it wont start,i bought it used and i got it dirt dirt cheap because i had to problem were you had to pinch the keyignition switch (the bottom were the key inserts) for the lights to come on to electric start it,well i pulled on it to hard no knowing it was taped and now its not working, if i get a new key ignition would that fix it and make the lights come back on so i can start it? or is it something else? thanks
