it was locked up, I bought it cause it looks in real nice condition, PO said it stopped in the middle of a muddy field, they trailered it home and it sat in the garage for a while. not sure how long I bought this yesterday, took it to a car wash because it was packed full of mud everywhere. got home tried the pull rope would not budge a bit, hooked up charger to the battery tried it and started right up.. WOW it runs it moves it does leak oil at the oil filter cover , but I also took off the valve adj. cap on top of the motor it seems very dry up there, started it up with the cap off still no oil flying out. WHAT DO I LOOK FOR  now? Please help, is it a oil pump problem or strainer clogged ? it does not knock or make any wierd noise .
thanks in advance

Yes, the oil level is good. I removed both valve adj. caps and then started it up, oil flew from the lower valve adj, area but not the upper? I am just wondering if the upper is getting lube.? or is that how these suzuki motors work? since they are angled maybe the top does not through the oil around ??? any help or if someone can remove their upper cap and start theirs up and let me know if the oil flings out a ***

thanks again

Well, I found out the problem of why no oil to the upper part of the top valve assy.

OIL FILTER INSTALLED WRONG I thought I would change oil and filter today and when I pulled the cover off for the filter it was installed backwards, I don't know how long they drove it like this but now after I installed new filter the correct way, fresh oil  I removed the upper valve adj. cap and now I have oil getting to both valves.

It still runs strong  I think this must be a bullet proof ATV  got to drive it today all gears work  4wd works diff lock works all seems fine what a steal 200 bucks

Hi guys, I have a 250 Suzuki quadrunner 87 , does anyone know how the oil is routed to the head by the pump please. There isn't any oil getting up there and the only route I can see for it to get there is by the timing chain as it turns, there isn't any other oil ways in the cylinder jacket or the head which I can see.I hope this is posted in the proper area.
