Check the Manual.  It should have pictures and instructions on where to fill it.  I'm no expert on these machines, but I don't think they use Tranny fluid.  I have a 2000 400 2x4 and my manual  calls for 10w 40 oil in the crankcase and this covers the gears as well.  I go to autozone and get the oil specifically for ATV/Motorcycle by valvoline.  Don't use reugalar car oil.  It will cause the gears to stick.
