Hi all,

Yesterday my buddy and I tried running his 2007 Vinson but had some issues. Why he does this I don't know but he leaves it out in the rain. He has not run it for two months and it sat outside. Anyway, starts right up and idles ok but when you hit the throttle to move forward it wants to stall. In giving it some throttle in nuetral, then letting off , she backfires a bit too. Engine sounds overall rough.A little history: He has run this thing from day 1 on "RES" on the fuel petcock.Apparently he thought this was the correct position.I don't know if there is a difference. I noticed this yesterday so we switched it to "FUEL" and she finally began to move forward but still not right at all.My guess is she needs a carb drain, fuel filter and fresh gas but would appreciate any other ideas here, thanks!

i would suggest completely overhauling the carb. change the oil, all filters, new gas would help, along with a cap full or two of sea foam. tell him to at least throw a tarp over it.

well we drained the tank last night and filled with fresh gas, cleaned plug, and still ran like crap. Then drained the carb via a small screw, out came just a small amount of who knows what, tightened screw, fired up & let run for a couple minutes, turned off, loosened screw and out came nice fresh gas. So now we know she's getting gas anyway. Started back up and ran like a brand new engine, lots of power, no backfiring. Another thing when he left it outside, there was no breather hose on the gas cap, exposing the breather hole to rain. After I fixed it last night he now keeps it in the garage!

okay great! thats what was causing it there. it was probably salt that came out. rain getting into the gas would overtime build up salt in the tank. i would still recomend you clean the carb to make sure there is none left, also, put a breather on the cab. the last thing he wants is to get mud in it.
