Does anyone know what cause the gas to leak into the crankcase of a 2000 400 Artic Cat. I changed the oil, and I think  I got all the gas out of the engine.  It fired right up, but as soon as I put it into gear it would die out.  Any suggestions.  I've had this cat for a 8 and half years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with it.

The carb. flooding the cylinder will cause the gas to be in the crankcase. Have you tried cleaning the carb?

It definately sounds as if the main check valve is stuck open. try tapping on the side of the carb. with a screwdriver handle.

I took the Carb off and cleaned it out.  It was pretty dirty.   It fired right up after I put it back together.  The only problem now is that when I shift from neutral to any gear it sputters and shuts off.
