400ex still wont start with ignition switch

i have a 2002 400ex it will not start with the electric start. i replaced the starter and still no results. the battery is new so i dont think that it is the battery. i can hook jumper cables up to my car battery and it will start up instantly i was thinking that it could be the starter solinoid but i wanted to see what yall thought first. when i hit the button it wont even turn over anymore without it hooked to another battery to jump it. i have no clue.

try running a wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the positive lead on the starter, if it starts then most likely you have a bad solenoid, if not then you most likely have a bad starter.  
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!
