Carb problem PLEASE HELP

I have a 2003 Honda Rancher and am getting fuel spilling out of the over flow tube. The problem started when I started it up for the first time in 6 months. When I previously parked it I turned off the fuel and ran the engine until it shut down.

I went to start it earlier in the week and it would not run and fuel was spilling out of the carb over flow hose. I pulled off the carb and cleaned it. I removed the float and inspected and cleaned the needle assembly. I re-installed the carb and the engine runs perfectly. However when I shut it down it continues to leak fuel. I have removed it many times and do not see anything that looks out of place. Out of frustration I went to Honda House and purchased a new needle valve. I installed the needle valve and it still leaks. The next thing I am going to try is the float however it looks fine and is not filling up with fuel. I have removed the float bowl and hooked up a gas line and the valve appears to work properly. (meaning it appears the fuel flow is stopping when you push up the float.)

I am a diesel mechanic so I have mechanicla knowledge just not on carbs and atvs. Is there any thing else it cold be other than the float?

Please help this is driving me crazy.

Thanks

Sometimes the stay tube in the bowl will develope a leak . with the carb off and appart hold the bowl filled with fuel(make sure the drain is tight)and check to see if fuel leaks out of drain. If this happens u may need a new carb. as i don't think you can buy the bowl separate.
Second thing to try sometimes i seen the fuel valve plastic seat leak where it is pressed into the carb body, no fix replace carb.

try adjusting the tab on the float assembly (bending it upward a little) so that it shuts off sooner.  if the tab is out of whack the floats won;t shut off and it will get too much in the bowl and overflow

yes the float level is adjustable on that carb. the floats are all plastic except for the needle valve tang, which is metal. check out the picture here.

and it could be water in the bowl as well, coming from the tank.
