Fan not working

I recently bought a 2000 polaris sportsman 335 4X4 with only 386 miles on it. It appears to have been very well treated. It does not appear to have ever seen water or mud at all. It is very clean. However the fan does not come on with the key on or with the engine running. How can I test the fan and/or the sensor?
Any advice would be helpful.

I have a polaris 500 and the fan does not come on until it reaches a certain temp.

i have a buddy with a polaris his fan barley ever comes on and he rides some serious mud, with the polaris's it takes a while but if still not coming on i would check your fuses, they sometimes come loose.
