2005 rubicon, automatic shifter.

hey yall, im new here and i have question, i have a 2005 Honda Rubicon 500 that i bought used about a month ago. Here lately while using the automatic shifter, i noticed that i dont have to push the button in on the side, to slide it between Low, Drive, Neutral, and Reverse. Im always come to a complete stop before trying to change between L, D, N or R, but if i remember correctly i thought that when i first got it i had to bush the button in on the side to get out of gear. So my question is, Is there something wrong with the transmisison, or shifter, that i need to take it and get it fixed? or is it normal?

The locking mechanism is in the handle, it should be fairly simple to figure out what's sticking or broke but it should fixed , incase it's accidently shifted  while it's moving. take it apart clean it and lubricate, probably has dirt in it.
