Arctic Cat 2005 400 4X4 Auto : The ATV is giving me problems starting.  it cranks, but will not start.  after several attempts, the ATV will start and run as if there was no problem.  i have noticed that priming the atv will help it start, but it won't always stay running.  i have changed the spark plug and air filter, as they have never been changed and it did not help. i am thinking it is something in the fuel delivery system.  Does anybody have any ideas as to what this may be.  i checked the butterfly in the carb to see if it was closed during starting and it is.  does this mean the choke is not the issue.

thanks for any help i can get

I would start by cleaning the carb. and fuel shutoff valve filter. Wolf1 has a carb. cleaning 101 thread on here you might want to checkout. I would also check the fuel flow from the shutoff valve. If that doesn't help then let me know.

It sounds alot like my 450 a few years ago, It would crank until the battery died or I could push start it turns out I never had it pro serviced  I sold it cheap to my neighbor he ajusted the valves and now it stars right away.

Just got done checking the fuel lines and cleaning the carb.  I didn't find anything that would seem to cause this problem.  I was just going to search to see how to test the electric choke before reinstalling.

I'll be back later..

Thanks,

I didn't find anything on the choke.  I reinstalled the carb and it fired right up. It ran great.  I decided to finish putting everything together today.  I did and went to start it and now it won't start again.  Any suggestions from here?
