im looking to get a 450, i plan to race but i mostly trail ride. my question is, what 450 is the best stock. i would like to hear goods, bads, about eveything. as far as i know can am and ktm are on top. but they are pricy. im considering a yfz450 or ltr450. what do you think?

certainly my consideration would be the yfz450 or the even better 450r
the 450r boasts a whopping 499cc engine on a light weight frame. real sport and performance. the yfz450 is good once you get the carb dialed in.
both incredible machines.
i have ridden the 450r and i have to tell you, there is some serious power in that machine!!!
and whens the last time you heard someone say they had too much power??
Ktm is good but when you haqve to do repairs you had better have a huge full wallet.
they are good on quality but repairs are inevitable with any machine.
same for the can-am
i would put my money on yamaha for a good sport atv.

i have read most all of the shootout reports in dirt wheels and some in the atv action mags. in most cases this on will be better here and there but overall it looks like the yfz is the all out best in general catagory. the new 2009 edition blows away any other machine in a drag and holds right in there with the other quads in any other area. the way i see it in a race if i can stick with everyone in the whoops and jumps and burms then i just use the straight aways to get ahead. do this once or twice around a track and there is no way you can lose. im pretty sure im set on a yfz but my issue is finding one. i dont have enough money to buy right now si i am stuck on trying to trade for one. if anyone reading this has one they are looking to get rid of email me with something you want on trade and i will see what i can do.
