hey i was looking through this forum for info on how get more power out of my blaster and i was wondering if anyone knows how to do the timing advance? i would also like to do away with all the electronic bull crap like the e brake and the wire coming out of the throttle i dont know if i can just start unplugging and cutting or not. and if anyone has any suggestions for power mods. i have already put a fmf fatty pipe and power core 2 silencer/dynojet kit stage2/chopped air box and k&N filter/v force 3 reeds/race plug/new mud lite tires. I'm debating the big bore kit from Vito's.

well the overev switches are a little trickier on the 2003 and up models,
but you should be able to unplug the switch in the tors unit, and the thumb throttle.

the timing advance mod is easy.
remove the left side cover, then remove the magneto, once you have this off, remove the three screws that hold the stator plate on, then mark to the left of the stator plate holes 3mm exactly.

then using a small rounbd file like the one used to sharpen a chainsaw blade, file away to the 3mm marks you made.
reinstall the stator plate  and turn it clockwise until the screws rest against the slotted holes of the stator plate.  3mm advances the timing 4 degree's.
this can add 3-4 horsepower to your blaster.

there are so many ways to add horsepower to the blaster.  the biggest are to add a 240 big bore kit. and a 3mm stroker crank.  the vito's 240 big bore kit is good but it doesn't come with race or trail porting done. so you'll have to contact someone like "wildcardracing" to have the porting done. but the porting is well worth it!!!

the blaster is an awesome machine to really get some serious horsepower out of.

mine with a 240 big bore kit and a 3mm stroker crank easily outruns my buddys' suzuki ltz400.

thanks for the tips I'm considering the big bore kit i will check out the timing advance tomorrow when I'm installing my new anti vibe steering stem and 1 1/8 pro contour bars and see how it works. are you a mechanic? I'm in the market for a aftermarket rear shock for my blaster?$$$$$$$$$they get pretty pricey if you know anyone with one they want to part with. my fronts are works triple rate pros but they seem to be a little stiff for me and i don't know why. triple rate shocks are supposed to be the best all around ride .any suggestions? maybe a rebuild.i  raced  quads back in my teens early 20s. i had a quad racer 500 ported and polished and it cranked!!!!the blaster doesn't even come close to the tork and top end but I'm getting there slowly.the shop i did business with went under and now there's only 1 shop around that dose motor work and they want a arm and a leg to do anything.what shop do u use? are they reasonably priced? were did you get your big bore kit?id like one soon. well wolf thanks for all the help much appreciated thanks jason

i got my big bore kit from www.rjatv.com
tell him Ben from wolf performance sent you.

have you adjusted the shocks to your weight?  the rule is measure the height of the front bumper without sitting on it, then sit on it and measure again. it should go down about 2 inches in height.  if more then it is too soft, if less then they shocks are too stiff.

i use arrow engine and machine here where iam, they are very reasonably priced for boring the cylinder and shaving the head.  usually 45.00 to bore up to .40 over, and 20.00 to shave 10 thousandths off the head.

the blaster will really turn on the power if you put the big bore kit on it and add a 3mm stroker crank from vitos.

the v force reeds are the best for more hp. but a good 34mm flat slide works well with the big bore kit, but you can also use the stock carb with a jet kit that comes with the vito's bb kit.

i own my own atv and dirtbike repair shop.  and ride....ALOT

Thanks,
Ben "Wolf Performance"
