I am looking to buy my first quad. My buddy knows someone that is selling a raptor 350. Is this quad going to be quick enough? Or would I be wasting my time and should go for something bigger.  I am 5'9 and weigh 180. I have ridden dirt bikes all my life. I am looking to add a quad.

a rapter 350 probably would be big enough for you. if you want more power you can always get an exhaust and other aftermarket parts.  Yamaha is second in my opinion only to honda.  another good quad would be honda 300 or 400ex

Bruno,

The Raptor 350 is an excellent ATV for general recreational use. What might bother me a little about that situation is that you come from dirt bikes. The 350 would have very little power in comparison to most dirt bikes. Before you purchase, definitely check into and consider the 400's and maybe even the 450's if you want a similar feel to what you are used to. Here are a few options:

Honda 400EX (Very Sporty with good power)
Suzuki Z400 (Very Sporty with good power)
or
Honda TRX450R (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)
Yamaha YFZ450 (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)
Suzuki LTR450 (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)
Can-Am DS450 (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)
Kawasaki KFX450 (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)
Polaris Outlaw 450 (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)
KTM XC450 (Extremely Sporty with top notch power)

The 400's are sporty and great recreational machines with strong fast power. The 450's will be more expensive, but will have a much more sporty feel and aggressive power. My two cents. Hope this helps.

I was told to buy something in the 400, 450 range before. I wanted to hear what was said about a 350. Thanks, it helped out.

There is nothing really bad to say about the 350, it just might not have the grunt and sport feel you are used to coming from 2-wheels. Stay in touch and let us know what you end up with.

Thanks,

350 to small buy somthing you don't have to put money into to get power like a new ktm 450 or with a little less power but best value and highest top speed yfz 450
