it  could be, but if so it will wear the belt out if it continues.

check into a new belt, as your old one could be worn.  if the old belt is still in good shape maybe try some belt dressing.

and check the motor mounts, these have a bad habit of breaking and causing slack on the belt.

yeah but here's the deal, if you put a little belt dressing on it and it stops for a while then you know that it was the belt.

The pvt clutch on your atv is centrifugal
it runs freely at idle with the engine but as you add throttle it draws in and closes against the sides of the belt, causing it to turn the transmission.

As you decend downhill with the adc, it free wheels as the rpms are down, and catches as the atv picks up a little speed. this may be due to grade change on the downhill slope.

so it would stand to reason that the belt would chatter or squeak some.
however too much can be annoying if not embarassing.

over time the belt may wear in so that the squeaking is less, or even nonexistent.

but if it continues for a good month of riding then you most likely will wear out your drive belt prematurely.

for now a little belt dressing may ease the situation and make it more bearable.
