Hello,

I have a 93 Bayou recently purschased not running and no carb.  I now have a carb in place and things look good.  Spark is present, but still no luck with firing up.  I believe the timing was out by 180 and since I made the change compression is better and suction through the carb has improved, but still no change.  As far as I can tell the spark is strong.  I must be missing something.  Any suggestions would help and plese treat me like someone who has never worked no anything like this before.  Thanks.

first lets make sure the timing is set.

a simple way to do this would be to remove the spark plug from the cylinder and place it into the spark plug cap, and slowly turn the engine over until the spark plug fires.

as soon as it does stop turning it over.

using a wooden pencil insert the eraser end into the cylinder
see if the piston is all the way up.

you have a carburetor now, was it used?
if so did you clean it out.
