i have a 2003 ltz 400 that runs when i jump start it but but the electric start doesn't work, when it is running there is a clicking noise in  the engine i have been told that it is a bad piston and thats why the electric start doesn't work because there isnt enough compression. But i have been told by a couple mechanics that it could be that valves. either way id like to know which one it is before i bring it somewhere to get it fixed.

well the first step is to check the valve clearance on it, make sure they are in tolerance, and aren't burned or warped.

then check the compression with a guage.

this will help you rule out
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!
