i have a 2004 400ex and about 2 months ago it ran fine. well now it wont stay running when it starts. it wouldent start at first so i changed the plug which was a pain in the ass and it started then shut off. i figured it was just cold, so i started it again and same thing keeps happening. with the choke on or off it will crank up for about 2 seconds and shut off, it will not keep running. i sprayed some starter fluid in the intake and it will run for about 5 seconds. im thinking this might be a bad carb?? can somebody help please??

Sounds like gummed up gas in the carb and fuel tank. check the post carburetor cleaning 101 under atv repair and maintenance.
if you need any more help after cleaning out the carb, let me know.
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!
