idoling problems acompanyed with back fireing

I have recently bought a 1986 suzuki 230 quad runner and it has ran great for about 8 solid hours of riding, but it recently began to have idoling issues once it gets hot( will not idol on its own) and back fires when you get off the throttle. I is also a great deal harder to start than befor( many kicks not just one or two). does anyone know where to start.

first start with a compression guage, make sur eyou are getting good compression.
then go to the carburetor and clean it out.
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!
