I have a 04 polaris 500 sportsman h.o.
I went riding today and at the end of our ride I started hearing noise come from the left side of the machine. I kept looking for stuff coming loose but didn't see anything, so I kept riding but by the end it got worse. So I tried to baby it to the road so i could get it on a trailer. but on the way the belt or clutch idk. stopped or broke and I didn't have any gear to move so my buddies had to tow me out. Four wheeler stills run and everything and right before it happened it made that clankin noise like before and gave out.
Any ideas of what the problem could be.

pu;; the side cover and check the belt, also check the pvt clutch to see if it has come apart.
in the pvt drive system you have a centrifugal clutch a belt, and a large pulley on the transmission.
it could be the belt was comng apart and hitting the side cover and finally broke, or it could be that the pvt clutch came apart.
hopefully it was just the belt, as the pvt clutch is rather expensive.
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!
