Hello, I'm new here.

I have a 2005 Arctic Cat 400 LE with a broken left rear axle.  I bought a new one through Parts unlimited, part number 1205-0140 but it did not come with the inside CV Joint.  Look like I need to take this CV Joint off the old axle and use it on the new one.

My question is how do I take this apart?

I had this inside axle the house last night because of the COLD weather.  I did not look at how to take the broken axle out of the CV Joint.  I did pop the boot off and did not want to make a greasy mess on the kitchen counter.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

most of the time they have a round retaining clip.  on the inside.  if you were to say put the shaft in  a vice atatch a length of chain to it long enough to whip.  and whip it the same as i you were to pull it it should pop apart.  If you hurt yourself I didnt tell you to do it so be carefull it is more often done on the bike.  useally thats all it takes though is a goos snap.  sometime just a hammer but ive found the best is a length of chain
BE VERY CAREFULL I dont want anyone getting hurt.
try a hammer first ut sometimes a hammer dosnt cary enough weight o a chain works better.
when it goes back together you leave that round slip on the shaft and force it into the new joint.
some times if you look at the outside cv joint housing youll see a wide slotted section were if you tipp the joit it will slide out there then you remove the snap ring and install the new joint
good luck
DONT HURT YOURSELF

I got this axle replaced.  The inner CV Joint came righ toff the axle, I washed all the grease out form inside the CV Boot and found a internal retaining ring that came out with the help of a couple screw drivers, prying and it popped out easily.  The rest was easily replaced.
