Our 2003 (?) ranger is overheating. The fan isn't coming on. We've taken it to a shop several times and they charge us $100 or more and it still isn't right. We hooked up a hot wire directly to the fan and it worked. Any suggestions??

I just went through the same thing with my 05 800 Twin. Had the whole front of the bike apart. Replaced Fan with aftermarket, checked all the wiring, etc. I was down to what I think is an inline fuze/circuit breaker in a supposedly sealed pouch. When I was moving it around all of a sudden the fan started working so I figured it was shorted or wire loose. cut the pouch apart and the relay/switch was all corroded, to the point the wires were barely connected. The tugging and pulling would cause the fan to come on or off as I played with it. I AM ON THE WAY TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE TO FIND SOMETHING SIMILIAR AND MINE SHOULD BE FIXED.
