Hi guys , I just bought this ATV and I just found this forum. I took it for it's first ride yesterday about 42 miles. It ran great for the first half but would not idle the 2nd half. The owners manual says "the idle is set at the factory and if it is unsatisfactory, take it to the Polaris dealer" On the very next paragraph it tells how to adjust the throttle cable slack. So I adjusted the cable so it would idle. Just like giving it a little gas to keep it running. Is this wrong and the idle should not be set like this? I've never had to adjust the idle on any other EFI vehicle I've had and , of course , since it's brand new, I want it right. Does anybody know the right way to adjust the idle? Could this be a bigger problem than a simple adjustment. I did notice a little 'stumbling' or blubbering when I reved it up in neutral, that kind of disappointed me, as I expected real clean throttle respons from the EFI. I appreciate any advice you guys might have

Hey Bro, Polaris has a safety switch in the throttle housing on the h- bars. it is designed to shut the machine down in the event the throttle cable sticks when the rider releases the lever. The cable just needs adjusted- take the cover off the assembly you will see the contacts inside adjust the cable until the machine idles

My 500 2up had the same problem. I could adjust the cable by turning the rubber heat shrink covering a connection in the cable just down from the throttle lever and still on the handlebar. Don't know if this can be tightened or not after adjustment cause I don't want to damage heat shrink cover. Also the stumbling and such could be your throttle position sensor. Mine went bad with just 2 hours of riding.
