hey all-just got my first quad(dirtbiker for life)and im loving it.
its a 2000 honda 400ex. Just got it yesterday with no manual and I have some questions that some of you may know the answer too.
1) whats the oil volume and what type is preferred (basic 10w40 or is genuine honda product the way to go?)
2)I drained oil first thing- sorry to say it was black. Do I refill where the dipstick goes-im assuming yes?
3)already took out and cleaned filter-dirty of course.
5)The quad was louder than normal-the owner said he took out the baffle for more performance-I thought the backpressure was good..he said on a 2 stroke yes, but on a 4 stroke, not needed?? anyone? should I find a put a baffle back in??

you can run without the baffle, just don't let water go into the exhaust.
