Polaris reverse limiter

I have a Polaris sportsman 500, 1999 and the reverse limiter is on all the time. How can i remove it.Thanks

usually the limitter is important,  so it is better to fix it than disable it.  

If you unplug the box,  it will disable it.  You can also unplug a gray wire that should disable it as well.  I don't have the manual in front of me, but it is pretty simple but dangerous.

Hi i cant find the limiter box .I found the regulator box .I was told it was under the light. I removed the whole front and cant find it . Is it possible there is no box on this model. My wirring diagram does not show a limiter box. Thanks

I found the problem. It was not the rev limiter. When i first started on this atv it would start but it would backfire with no rpm. The first problem was the camshaft. It was worn on the exhaust lobe. After it did not backfire but still no rpm, it would cut out.I sent the stator to be repaired. Put it in, still the same problem.On this model the rev limiter is in the speedometer.What i did is remove a stator from another atv in the shop, put it in and voila.The stator i sent to be repaired was bab.
