Never had a problem..I went to start it, it backfired now it won't start..any ideas..I was thinking maybe timing chain jumped..thought I would ask before I start tearing it down any help what it could be would be a great help..Thanks Paul

first thing to be sure it is getting fuel and spark

if so then i would look into the timing chain.  
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!

Check the automatic compression release mechanism on the camshaft(older models). I think this malfunctioned on my 1987 model, causing a backfire through the intake ,and a bent intake valve.
