Hope someone can help. I am new to ATV maint. but need some direction on where to start and will try anything. I have a 94 Timberwolf 250 2X4. The bike starts but will die after idleing for about 45 sec. and then will not restart until it sits for about 10 min. Then it will start but will die again. I tried all different choke settings to keep it running with no luck. It seems like it runs out of gas so I cleaned out the fuel filter and pulled the gas line off the carb and gas pored out. At one point I did get it running and ran about 1/2 mile but as soon as I slowed down it died. What should I check next?? (note: I have run the bike at half choke for 9 years with no issue. It will only stay idling without half choke if it is really really warmed up.) Any and all help is appreciated!

I have diagnosed the problem further. (disregard what I said above) To make a long story short. When I start it cold it runs fine. After 3 minutes of running it begins to backfire when slowing down and after I come to a stop, put it in gear and hit the gas it dies. I can restart it immediatly but will die under load but not neutral idleing. If I wait 5 minutes it runs fine for about 3 more minutes.

Try pulling the air hose on top of carb off, next to throttle cable. Some years back I bought a 89 moto4 250 for $700 that had the same symptoms, and for a day and a half tried everything a non-mechanic will try, then I popped that rubber tube off and she purred like a new machine(after fixing all my carb adjustments I made not knowing what I was doing).I still use that moto4 to mow 12 acres(2 swisher pull behinds).I'll bet it has 4000 hard hours on it.Anyway its worth a try.
