Hello guys, first of all greetings to all and well I believe this is a great forum, it has already helped me with some problems however, I just received my ATV and built it (or at least it looks like, I just put the tires and seat). it's a taotao 250D Now when it came the time to connect the battery I didn't notice it had levels indicating where the acid show go, so as soon as I realized I empty a little the ones that had more and then put it in the one that was missing some of it.

After that I left the battery with no stoppers in it for about 3 hours (I was told to do it so). After that I connected the battery and tried to start the engine, it wanted to start but it didn´t    so we decided to open again the battery for quite some time to see if it was the problem.

After putting the battery again, the "N" light was lighting but when trying to start the engine it din't even sound and the "N" ligth just turned of (like if the battery were with no charge, I know it because the front lights didn't want to light up either) although I measure the battery with multimeter and it says "12.7" I was told to try to charge the battery, that could be the problem, ok so I was wondering if someone knows how to charge a taotao 250D battery or has had the same problem and how could I solve it... thanx in advanced guys

Hi there.  Did you try adding distilled water to the battery and charging?

Take the battery somewhere and have it load tested.  I have had batteries that were accidently drained completely of power, and even though I could charge them up to 12+ volts, under load they were only about 5 volts and were useless to the ATV.  Also use a low amp charger when first charging the battery.   Most of the directions I've read say that a high amp charge will wreck the battery

another problem with the taotao and chinese made atv's is that the batteries are made just as cheaply as everything else on the atv.
they don't last long and normally you are replacing them the first month of ownership.
just go down to the local parts store and buy a better one.
I don't think you can get better than yuasa batteries but anything is better than the ones that come on the chinese atv's
