Kodiak battery keeps draining

Have a 2003 Yahama Kodiak 400 with a Warn wench.  The battery keeps going down to where the electric start will no longer work.  It just buzzes so I have to use the pull start.  This is both painful and annoying at 5:30 am before a hunt.  I've been through 2 batteries and several re-charges.  Now I just disconnect the battery when I'm not using it and it seems to hold the charge ok.  Could it be the wench draining the battery?  My brother has the exact same machine with a wench and he has never had a problem.  Any other advise?

I had a similar problem on my 03 450.  Turns out I lost my Voltage regulator.  It's on the back of the quad in front of the swing arm, on the frame.  I relized this after I had replaced my stator.

Hey Jackson,
I have the same bike. When you apply the back brake do you get a chatter noise? I get it when I lay on the back brake hard. Took it in for service and the tec told me it was normal for this bike. Don't seem right to me.  Thanks
