I need help! I have a chinese made 150cc that i bought recently for my son. While riding it, it just quit running! I have changed the spark plug,coil, and cdi box with none of this solving the problem. It turns over fine but seems like not getting any fire. I have taken the plug out and looks like not throwin any spark. My boy gettin impatient! Any suggestions?

if you have replaced the cdi box and the coil then the only thing left is the stator.

check all of your connections and check the fuse as well.
but barring that i'd be looking at the stator.

Would the stator cause no spark though? I thought the stator had to do with the charging system?

You may well have sorted out your problem by now, but the same thing happened to my scooter (same engine) and the problem was caused by the flywheel shorting out two wires that come from the magneto. Identifying the problem took a couple of days, the fix took about 30 seconds and a few inches of insulation tape.

yes the stator also tells the coil when to spark by lifting the ground as the magneto's contact point passes the stators' contact.

Ok! Does anyone know where I can get a flywheel puller for this motor?

Thanks guys! The problem was the stator! It was actually a pretty cheap fix and I believe the little quad runs better than it did when new.

Thank you for reporting back!

Often people ask for help and a lot of advice is given, some good and some bad.  Enventually the problem gets solved and then the thread fades.  But what is lost in all this is closure. We never know what the eventual solution was.

I'm betting that for every person that posts with a problem and gets help there are countless others that benefit from the advice and then don't need to post.  That has certainly been true for me.  I have learned so much from other peoples efforts.

This is especailly true for us with Chinese ATV's since the only knowledge base out there is compiled from the hard won experience of others.

Hi guys;

I alsow have a chinese 150cc scooter..I'm having a problem from iddle to about 1000rpm more. After that range the scooter is runing fine. I cleaned the carb, change the spark plug, change the cdi and still doing the same thing..I also tried adjusting the carb but I did not see any diference.
Does any one has an idea?

eflecha

you need to raise the needle in the carburetor, the gy6 engine uses a CV carb, so it's pretty easy to do, remove the 4 top screws, remove the slide assy, since the needle does not have groves in it like most other needles you need to shim the needle by adding a thin washer underneath the c clip, the washer should be somewhere around  .015-.020 thickness, just slid the washer onto the needle then reinstall , this should fix your problem
