Im new to the forums and need some advice here. I started this in another thread but wasnt sure if it was the right place for it. okay so im a stumped mechanic  . Im working on a 200cc loncin quad, i just replaced the clutch and rebuilt the carburator for this guy. I got it 3 months ago from the guy and it ran, however the float bowl was all clogged and it ran like crap hence why i rebuilt the carb and the clutch plates were worn out. I had to wait 3 months to get this clutch for some odd reason, i put it in over the weekend and charged up the battery and when i go to start it i hear a click but nothing more. I pulled off the side cover of the starter, and the starter cranks and seems to have power when i grab it with my hand( by the way it is a gear driven starter not a chain) and when i do this the posative and negative wires off the battery get really hot. After this i was under suspicion that the starting clutch may be a problem. So i removed the starting clutch and flywheel and everything looks to be okay??? Hopefully someone out here has ran into this problem before. please help

does the starter turn well whn you bypass the solenoid? (running a wire from the battery to the starters' positive lead)

if then possibly the solenoid, if not then try another battery to see if the starter turns the engine well.
could be the battery has a dead cell.

like everything else on the chinese atv's the batteries are extremely cheap as well.

Yes the starter does turn, i ment to put in there that i replaced the solenoid and had the battery tested.. It could be a dead cell but do you think there could be any problems in that starting clutch that could cause this?

by starting clutch do you mean Bendix?
these starters shouldn't have one of those.
these machines normally don't come with very sophisticated starters.

but if you are meaning the primary idle clutch then yeah it is possible.

okay well im moving forward however im still a bit stuck? I got a new battery for it but im still having trouble. Now when i crank it over it goes through 1 compression cycle and then stops then when i hit the switch it does the same thing over and over. when i pull the spark plug it will crank right over, which makes sense. So im leading to a possible timing issue, but on the same note im trying to figure out how this thing got out of time (if thats a possibility) by sitting in my garage for a couple months because it ran just fine when i got it.

Well i guess i got the unluckyness this time around. I knew i wasnt all that bad of a technician haha. After about blowing this thing up i took the BRAND NEW BATTERY back to the store and asked them to test it just for fun. turns out its bad. So i got 2 bad batterys causing all of these problems. But on the bright side the battle is over and i can now give this guy his quad back

Thanks for the help for those who gave it
