dude, do the big bore kit and then buy a 1 up front and rear sprocket & chain kit. you can also buy a boost bottle for it. the 240 big bore kit will scare you to death once you get it back together.
but upping the sprockets will give you a higher top end to go with that extra compression.
you can also buy a good set of racing reeds. there is just so much you can do to the blaster to make it absolutely scream.
but be ready to buy a lowering kit, it will help keep the front tires on the ground more often.
another free thing you can do is take the front wheels off, turn them around and mount them to where you have more width in the front. you get more stability in turns with a wider stance in the front. plus they will still be narrower than the rear, so no worries wrapping an A arm around a tree. yeah it could wear the wheel bearings out a little quicker (so far no problems with mine, they have been turned around for 3 years and i get alot of air) but the wheel bearings are dirt cheap. I have upgraded alot on the two blasters i have. as well as...
I put a honda interceptor 700 V4 cylinder engine off a sport bike on an extra blaster frame, man this thing is wild to ride!!
but if you are going to bore the engine go ahead and buy a new set of clutches. the old ones may wear out quickly with all that extra horsepower!! you can also remove the baffle on the exhaust and retune the fuel air mixture on the carb to get a little more power.
the blaster is certainly the fastest 200cc atv that i have ever ridden. I don't know what yamaha did to it, but man they did it right! I have been keeping up with and smoking some of the 300's and 400's.

don't buy the vito's big bore kit. the vito's doesn't address the issue of overheating properly. you engine will overheat and eventually heat the piston up causing the piston skirt to come apart.
the best big bore kit on the market is the trenga ultimate big bore kit. they design a new cylinder and head that will not only keep your engine cool but the new porting and polishing they have on it gives you a ton of extra horsepower!! the factory cylinder cannot be ported as well because you'll go right through the walls of the cylinder and ruin it.
they completely remade the cylinder so it's thicker so they could port for true performance.

I have a 2002 blaster with a vitos 240 kit and lrd full pipe and vforce 3 reeds and a hot rod crank and i smoked my friends z400 if u do this to yours you will be able to eat 4 strokes. if you do this changes you plug from a br8es to a br9es it helps alot. you might want to think about a 2" ex swing arm cause i have to lean over the handle bars to climb hills but 5 gear wheelies are sweet.

Alright, so I'm 32 and just got into the Quad thing. I bought a 2001 Blaster with a Vito's 240 big bore kit and 2008 YFZ 450. The first time I had the Blaster out I had to replace the reeds and the second time out I blew the piston. Apparently, it was recently put in and I didn't break it in properly. So here are my questions and thoughts: Should I get a new 240 piston from Vito's - Should I put in a 300 kit (which my brother told me was now available somewhere) - or should I scrap the thing and only ride my YFZ? I kinda like the Blaster as it is a little smaller for the trails and I'm not as worried about wreckikng it, etc. I thought about sticking with the 240 and letting kids use it also.
Let me know what you all think and also what else I should do to make this thing rock.

I am told now that vito's has addressed the isuues of overheating.
i would go back with the vito's piston, although i believe that wiseco makes a pro-lite 240 piston.
wiseco hasn't let me down in over 20 years.
i wouldn't let any kid under 100 pounds on a blaster, and i'd be careful then with a big bore blaster.
the blaster i ride is only .40 over with a 1 up front sprocket, and a 4 degree timing advance mod, with boyeson pro series dual stage reeds, and a custom modified exhaust, and it drags my 37 year old, 160 pound butt around with absolutely no problems.
my twelve year old son rides it from time to time, but he has been riding for years, and been to riding school. other than that he rides a stock blaster.

i would go with making the blaster a 240 but if your kids are going to be riding it than i dont know if you should cause they might get hurt
