2001 explorer. Sat for 3 years. Changed all fluids. The case where the pull start is had water in it. Drained. Filled with gear oil. Started up and it started smoking like crazy. Wasnt doing that before put oil in case.  
Any ideas??   Would it do this if I overfilled or is there possibly a gasket blown or something cracked. It is running fine just smoking like crazy.

Any help appreciated.

yeah stuff smokes cause it burns oil, probably a gasket
