ok, the carb is most likely well out of adjustment.

i would first try to adjust the fuel/air mixture screw again and try to get it tuned in.

like i said turning it to the left will add more fuel, turning it to the right will add more air.
since it is bogging down then it sounds like you are geting too much fuel.

turn the screw in 1/4 turn increments like you did before and be sure to let it run for a minutes with each 1/4 turn before deciding if it needs more adjustment.
and remember to keep up with how many 1/4 turns you make.

if you haven't drilled the holes in the airbox lid yet, then remove the lid while tuning.

the airbox lid whitout the holes will make it draw in more fuel than needed.

did you put stock reeds in it?

if so you may want to buy a good set of Boyeson pro series dual stage reeds so that they will open quicker.

you can get these at your dealer, but they are cheapest if bought from rjatv.com
and John is awesome to deal with.

As for the reeds I did buy the boyeson reeds. I have adjusted the air/fuel mixture screw all the way in keeping track of how many turns I made, but it is still getting to much gas. do you know how high to set the floats on the carb?

Floats are set to the stock specification, 20.5 TO 21.5mm using a depth gauge or the tail end of a measuring caliper.

Hey man, thanks for all the advice. After I got the floats adjusted, somebody mentioned the stater. I went and had it tested and it turns out that it was bad. The blaster was still running off of the headlight stater. A very unusual accurance, but I was told that it happens. But thanks again. I'll let you know how it works out.

Hey man, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I got a new stater and put it on and I had to re-adjust the carb again. Now it runs like a bat out off hell. So, thanks man. I really appreciate all of the advice you have given me. And I also hope you have as much fun on your Blasters as I am about to have on mine. I'll get back to you if I have any more trouble with it that I can't figure out. Thanks again.

Hey man, I would like to see your blaster. Could you send me a picture of it? If you can just send it to dylanmiller66@yahoo.com. It sounds like you have it running tip top. Another thing is that I am planning on lowering mine and I would like to see how it looks before i go off to do it.

the trick with lowering is to make sure you dial in the shocks right.
sometimes you even have to change the shocks.

mine is lowered extremely, about four inches lower than stock, so i had to change the shocks.

it puts you closer to the ground and pushes your a arms out a little further.
it's a cool look but you lose some ground clearance in the front.
but the whole idea with lowering is to get it closer to the ground so that it will hold the turns better.

as well when you lower if it is done right it is harder to get it to wheelie.
meaning you can get a better off the line.

i have pics posted on here of my blaster, but not with it lowered.

and hey i won ride of the month for January!!! now aint that cool!

there are also some pics of my blaster on my myspace page.

I tried going to myspace and I can't find your profile. What is your e-mail address? That will help me find you.

keihin is good, but a mikuni 28mm flat slide is my personal preference.
yo can really dial in a flat slide carb and you get a good strong throttle response. plus the mikuni wont kill your wallet.
check with John at www.rjatv.com he can get the flat slide carbs for ya at a decent price.
with any after market carburetor you'll most likely need a new throttle cable as the factory blaster cable won't work usually.

i had a question also pretty similiar i rebuilt my blaster and i have that mikuni 28mm carb on it with an fmf exhaust and vito reeds. i cant get it to start but it will sometimes and when it does its a real low idle and bogs out after about 10 seconds. i think its getting to much fuel b/c it backfired on me after about 10 kicks and it seems likes its getting flooded. im not good with adjusting carbs but i see one screw adjust on the left side and i was wondering if thats it or if i maybe need new jets? please let me know thanks.
