Someone please help!! I'm going crazy!! I have an 01 Honda Recon that ran perfectly yesterday. Today it will not stay running unless I have the choke pulled. I thought the carb must have some dirt in it so I took it all apart and cleaned it thoroughly with cleaner and blew it out with air put it back together and still the same problem. I don't know what to do. It run perfect with the choke pulled but dies as soon as I push it in. I also checked the rubber manifold between the head and carb and it appears to be in perfect shape. Any ideas?????

yes check the diphram in the top of the carburetor. inspect it for holes, sounds as if you have a hole worn in it.

Did teh advice work for you.  I have an 03 Yamaha 450 that is doing almost the same thing.  Starts on choke, dies as soon as you take choke off.  Also dies if you hit the throttle.  However, mine will only run for about 15 seconds on choke, then it dies.

I got the same problem but mine is and 07 rubicon it starts on choke and will barely idle with choke on then have to put in gear and hit gas while choke is still on as soon as u let go of the gas it dies buddy told me to try a new sparkplug and i got one but dont know how to put it in because the sparkplug has threads on the top which ive never seen ( im no mechanic) and dont want to pull to hard on the sparkplug cap incase i break something and make things worse

Using the choke changes the air fuel mixture to make it more rich. Checking for an air leak makes sense because that would make the motor run lean. I would recommend putting in a inline fuel filter to prevent any dirt from reaching the carburator, checking the air filter and air intake for leaks, and possibly pulling the carb and disassembling it to check for a clogged jet.  Also if you cannot change a spark plug you have absolutely no hope of fixing this yourself.

yeah if the plug has threads on the top that just means it is missing a little metal peice that goes on the top... it screws on and off really easy just take the one off ur old plug and put it on the new one, if that don't work than u got somethin wrong wit the carb
