I just got a 2004 yamaha blaster about a week ago, and i don't know what parts i should get first. i only have about $100 to get anything, and i was thinking about a new DG type II oval silencer, and then i was gonna get the head pipe later when i have more money. If there is any other parts that will boost the performance more and cost around $100, please let me know... its the first quad ive ever owned, i usually have dirt bikes

the boyeson pro series dual stage reeds will give you a significant boost.
check with John at wwwrjatv.com he can get you a good price on them.

also if you are interested i can tell you how to advance the timing on your blaster by 4 degree's.  it's a free modification that costs you nothing but time.

the oval silencer will do you good but you can also remove the baffle on the factory exhaust and get a little boost too.

if you can go out and buy a 1 up front sprocket from the dealer they usually run around 17.00 and will give you more top end without sacrificing any noticeable bottom end.

there's really alot you can do to the blaster to really make it scream!!!
you can bore them out fairly cheaply around here, although the total price of of a .40 over bore with a new piston kit and gaskets will usually run you around 220.00 here.

alright thanks.. i thought about removing the baffle before but i heard that thats only a thing you should do with 4 strokes b/c 2 strokes are like alot diffrent and it would mess with how its tuned or sometin.. idk haha its my first 2 stroke also. I heard about the 14t front sprocket from a friend a couple days ago, so ill probably get one soon. as for the reeds ill check them out and it'll probably be between them and the silencer. And oh yeah can you tell me how to advance the timing? Will it make it run quite a bit better or will it overheat or sputter or bog down or anything? Because i know with cars the timing is pretty crucial to dial in right...

no the timing advance is a pretty dead on set up, you don't have to retune for it.

removing the baffle won't won't hurt on a 2 cycle.
just don't drown the muffle in water. but that's with any engine.

when you remove the baffle you may have to adjust the fuel/air mixture a little, normally it's no more than turning the fuel/air mixture screw to the left a half turn.
but if you [put the oval on it you'll have to retuned it anyway.

send me a private message with an email address and i'll send you a set of instructions for the timing advance complete with pictures.

alright thanks anyway but i just don't feel that comfortable messing with the timing, but i dont know what parts i'll get yet because theres quite a few b/c i know a guy that owns an atv/motorcycle shop around where i live in pennsylvania, and i can get 15% off any parts so i'll probabaly get the dg silencer, k&n air filter, and the 1 up front sprocket, i heard power difference from the k&n filter is like night and day
