I am new to this board and the sport. I have a 2004 Prairie 700cc that was stolen from my trailer. I have recovered the machine, but the wheels and tires are missing. Instead of spending $1000+ on tires and wheels, I would prefer to buy a cheap used machine and put the tires on the Prairie.

Is that possible or do I need to order wheels and tires just for the prairie. In other words, will any wheels that fit the machine work or are they model specific?

You should be able to buy just the used tires/wheels from e-bay instead of buying a whole used machine just to get the tires. Tires/wheels are interchangeable from model to model if they have the same bolt pattern and offset. For example my tecate is 4/156 and can use rear tires and wheels from the yamaha banshee, kawasaki mojave and some other models. The offset refers to whether the part that bolts to the hub is in the center off the rim or offset to the edge to make rear wider. You should consult a dealer or online to find what other makes and models would fit. Also the rears from one model might work and the fronts from another model.

Here is a link to an online wheel chart;

It looks like your wheels are the same front and back and are 12" tall by 7" wide and use 4/137 bolt pattern. A Suzuki twin peaks 700 has the same tires and wheels,so does a brute force 750 and 650 so does the prairie 360,400 and 650 models and bombardier outlander 330,400 and 800 models.
