i have a polaris 700 twin, the battery is new and tested good but the quad will not hold a charge, what could the issue be? I had read a little about the voltage regulator online but cannot find one for a 2004

My dad has the same machine. Has the same problem. 2006 the unit was replaced under warenty, THen again now two years later same problem. It is like $1000 dollars to fix I was told. THe part is like $500 and the labor $500. He runs a winch on his machine which is connected year round. I am convinced it is the winch that is doing it. I told him to put a fuse near the battery on the pos side of the winch cable to see if it would clear up the problem. I am convinced because my buddy has a recon with the same prob. He just charged the battery and un hooked the winch to see what would happen. It has been running stong for a week now. No problems. If you have a winch I would try it first.
