HI Everyone I got a friend that wants to buy a cheap ATV for is 13 year old. He's be looking on line at the Chinese ones because he has check with all the big names but can't find any thing under $2500.00 and he can't spend that right now. He's looking at a SLA-150 Fully Auto with reverse but it don't say how the maker is I know their is some good and bad just like every thing else I just don't want to see him throw is money away.

Honestly, I think you could find a really good used ATV for that price. I'd rather have a used: Honda, Polaris, Suzuki, Yamaha, Can-Am, Kawasaki, Arctic Cat or Kymco over any of the Chinese quads. Kymco is a Taiwan quad company that is reputable. In our December issue of ATV Rider Magazine, we did a feature of 30 Tips for buying a used ATV. I'll check and see if the article is on our website.

yeah i wouldn't waste my money on the chinese atv's.
in my opinion buying any of the chinese atv's would be throwing his money away.
the chinese atv's i have seen come through my shop, (and i have seen alot of them) don't last a single season without falling apart.

He didn't have the $2500.00 to spend on a name brand ATV. He wasn't spend that on a chinese atv he did end up buying a 2008 MDI Pather 150 for $1100.00 with the tax.

Polaris is actually worse than the chinese atv's for breaking down.
I see more Polaris machines in my shop than i do chinese atv's.

Hey. I bought a 250cc chinese quad and found it ok a bit underpowered. I bought a online performance manual and now goes awesome and seems to be more reliable. Have ridden it most weekends without any dramas. the website address was www.quadatvperformance.blogspot.com.

I will say this...If cost is a factor, I ordered 2 cheap atvs from www.bojopowersports.com and they run great.  You can go to atvdiscounter but they deliver to a terminal for free and about $100 for your home, even tho they say free delivery.  Budgetatv has a horrible track record with customer service, just look them up. And olsonpowersports.net will not deliver until about 4 months, even tho they say 7-10 days.  bojopowersports got me mine in 4 days for $1100 for a 250cc and $585 for a 110cc.  All with free shipping, just throwing it out there.

I just bought my daughter her 2nd atv from TAOTAO. First one was a 50cc she has been rideing for a year and a half and now she has outgrown that 50cc 2 stroke which still runs great to this day and now she has a 110cc from the same company (TAOTAO) google search ZHE JIANG TAOTAO INDUSTRY *** LTD. I personally don't mind these bikes and my daughter loves her new 110cc 4 stroke which is very fast, Yes I can ride it to and i'm 250lbs. TAOTAO has I believe 50cc up to 300cc

it's always good to hear that one held up, it means someone didn't lose their money on it, or get injured.

unfortunately thats not the case for many. i get constant questions on repairs for these both here and at my shop.
i have heard all of the horror stories of how children were injured riding the chinese atv's and they broke or went full throttle, or the brakes fell off.

i even had an attorney ask me to be an information source for a lawsuit he is involved in where a child was seriously injured or killed.

yes every once in a while you might find someone who bought one and it has worked well. but it simply is not worth the risk of injury to purchase one of these, the

Truth is, more often than not these chinese, poorly constructed atv's will injure you due to poor quality materials.
