I am looking for an Owners Manual for a 1998 Big Bear. I have the Shop Manual on disk, but it does not provide certain information, such as "what is the knob on the 'dashboard" on the upper right that simply says "rev" on it?" and so on. Thanks.

the knob on the dashboard is the reverse knob. when the bike is in neutral turn the knob and press down on the foot shifter that should put you in revers. to get out just lift up on the shifter. Do you think I could get a copy of that shop manual wattsyr6@aol.com thanks

Of course the dealer will be happy to sell you one. Or, you can go to the Yamaha web site and download a PDF copy. You can't print it but you can save it to you hard drive. I have a 1998 Kodiak and that is what I did. Are you 2 or 4 WD?

Gapretzel: that was exactly what I needed. For some reason, I can shift into reverse without using the reverse knob. I have not investigated this yet. Thanks.
