My daughter has a Kawasaki Bayou 185. It used to shut down intermitantyly when riding. You could let it sit for a few and it would start back up. Then one day it was running and died. It hasnt started since. I did some research and it all led to the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump and the battery, NO HELP. I can take the filter off and spray some carb cleaner in the card and the ATV will run but when it burns out the carb cleaner it then dies. Also when I put a battery charger that has the engine start capability on it and turn the key on it kicks off the battery charger. I was wondering if there was some kind of short in the system or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Been trying to get this thing running for 2 weeks so we can get the family back on the trails.
Thanks,
Shane

well it could be low compression, or even as simple as the stator and magneto has a little rust on it, causing a weak spark.
it could also be a clogged carburetor.

take a power tester and unplug the wire connections that have a plastic connector that is cylindrical put the end in it and see your fuel pump could be shorting out mine had the same problem and the bottom of it put just enough pressure to short it out which inturn caused me to have to push my quad three miles out of the woulds and fork out 100 bucks to fix it good luck
