I have an 1996 Polaris sport. We bought it second hand and have had several problems with it in the past (running too hot, jetting issues) but everything was working when we fixed those problems. The new issue is that it will not idle. It runs fine, but once the engine gets down into idle mode, it sputters and shuts off. It's usable, but it's wasteful. My dad (the mechanic of the family) and I have looked at it and he took the carburetor out and took it apart. Nothing seems to be amiss.
We've played with some of the hoses and the pilot screw on the side to see if those were the problem. It's possible that some of the hoses are corroded, but I'm not sure that's the problem. The pilot screw didn't help much either.
Any thoughts?
