Hows everyone? Im having this problem with my clutch slipping after i ride for a while and it only slips when i really get on the throttle. Is this just an adjustment maybe or do i need to buy a new clutch? Thank you in advance!   Darren

well there are simple adjustments to a clutch.
via the clutch cable.

but most of the time the clutches are simply wearing out.

you can adjust the pressure plate adjusting rod which runs through the clutch basket and the pressure plate, it normally has a phillips drive in the end of the rod, and a nut on it for adjusting.

turning the rod to the left while holding the nut still with a phillips screwdriver will allow you to tighten the pressure plate screws a little more,
causing it to engage tighter, but before doing this i would inspect the clutch friction plates and the steel seperator plates for wear or crystallization.

it sounds more like you need a new set of clutches.
especially if it has slipped very much at all.

check with RJATV.com John is easy to work with, has great prices, and fast shipping. and most times he offers both the stock replacement, and a better than stock clutch kit.

the clutch kits i have in my yamaha's are from John and they work great!!

I found the reason the clutch was slipping. the clutch boss had grooves worn into it and wasnt allowing the plates to come completely together, i installed a new clutch boss and clutches and is 100 percent now!!
