sounds like the carburetor needs a good cleaning.
pull it off and remove the bowl. clean it out good. if you need instructions on how to remove it and clean it let me know.

Were you able to fix the problem? I seem to be in the same boat as you. My Trail Boss will stall the moment I push the choke in unless it runs with the chocke out for almost 10 minutes even in the summer. Would love to know how yours turend out!

if you have to have the choke on to start it or for it to run, then it is a sign that it isn't getting enough fuel without the choke. this is normally caused by the carburetor being somewhat clogged, or the fuel/air mixture being off.

Hey Wolf1 thanks for the info. Forgive me for being a total beginer and it's not that I'm not handy. I'm just learnig about ATV's and this is my first one. I hope it won't sound to dumb if I ask what do you think I should I do.

it doesn't matter how new you are, and you are welcome. and the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask!!
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF ATV!!! hey check out the magazine if you get a chance, it really is worth the price!!
you'll want to take the carburetor off and clean it out. take the carburetor off and remove the screws holding the bowl on the bottom. look down into the bowl and check for dirt, trash or buildup.
clean it out carefully with a soft brass bristled brush. (you can get one at the local hardware store) if there is trash in it.
then look at the underside of the carburetor. you should see the floats, and the jets.
carefully remove the pin that holds the floats onto the carburetor, and carefully remove the float assembly, along with the needle valve underneath it.
be very careful not to lose the needle valve as it is small and can fall out easily. note which way the floats came out.
inspect the floats for holes or cracks, and inspect the needle valve for build-up or wear.
remove any fuel build-up from the needle valve it may have, very carefully.
next using a wire bread tie with the coating melted off of it, gently slide it into the brass jets on the bottom, and all other holes you find in the underside of the carburetor. this will push any gelled fuel out.
you 'll have to raise the throttle to get it through the largest jet.
last: spray it out with a good carburetor cleaning spray lightly.
reassemble and reinstall it on the bike. you shouldn't have any extra parts when you are done, just the wire bread tie and your tools.
if you feel like this is too much for you to tackle on your own, then take it by the dealer or your local repair shop and have them do it.
Hope this helps

How'd you make out? I'm in the same boat but would like to know if the carb cleaning worked before I tear mine apart.
