some models like my blaster you can notch the stator plate so that it will advance the timing.

although check to see if "RICKY STATOR" offers a slotted plate for yours.

Hey dude srry to tell u but all advancing the timing a few degrees does is make your engine run hotter and be more prone to overheat. Yeah sure you get a little performance boost (4-5 hp if your lucky) but you cant even feel the difference when your riding at all, its such a little adjustment

blaster2166, didn't you just post a few days ago about not really knowing what the timing advance did?

timing advance for the common person in as few words as possible: advancing the timing starts the combustion earlier in the stroke, moving the point at where the fuel mixture is burning/expanding most explosively, closer to the beginning of the downstroke. with stock timing, a good percentage more of that explosive expansion is released out of the exhaust reed. the advantages are really seen when you have an aftermarket exhaust/intake and either a bored/jetted carb or a race carb.

it is possible to advance it too far. if you are overheating, back it off a degree.

now, to argue your point. if it's such a "little adjustment" and makes it more prone to overheat, why do so many modded blasters have the timing advance done? tbh, it sounds to me like you're bouncing things you pick up off your friends and are getting bum feedback.

Shado is right the timing advance modification has to dead on. no more than 4 degree's on a blaster.

both of the blasters here have the timing advance mod and they do very well with them.

my sons stock blaster has the stock carb and exhaust, with the exception that the exhuast has been modified a little.
sure the timing advance is a huge difference, while it is noticeable (at least they are noticebale on these two)
on 4 cycle machines you have to be a little careful with a timing advance modifications as they can be a picky and run hot.
but with 2 cycle air cooled machines you normally don't see any rise in temperature other than the fact that you are riding it harder because you like the new found power.

this modification is simple and you can always turn it back to factory if for some reason you don't like the new power.

I have the modification complete with photo's so if you need them send me a private message with your email address.

this mod is for the blaster

#1 Unplug the connections for the stator wires behind the frame tube next to the CARB.

#2 Remove the stator cover

#3 Remove the flywheel and keyway.

#4 Mark the original stator position with a scribe as in the pic (the red line marks the stock timing location)

#5 Next remove the stator plate by removing the two mounting bolts

#6 using a scribe measure and scribe a line 3mm to the left of the mounting hole location. This will give you a 4 degree timing advance

#7 Using a round file or a grinding bit in a dremal tool widen the mounting holes 3mm to the line you just made.

(a round file works really quickly)

#8 reinstall the stator plate and measure the marks you made in step #4 and make sure the plate can now be turned 3mm.
