Can Am frames are weak and very vulnerable to buckle and bend.

I just bought my second Can Am 400 Outlander Max Ex last week. Yesterday, my ex told me that the frame on the one I bought last year is bent on the main frame underneath! Apparently this is a HUGE issue and guess what? There is something that we can do about this, it's called a class action lawsuit~~ Are there any attorneys who are involved in this forum? Why should we have to pay excessive repair costs after paying for supposed "TOP OF THE LINE" four wheelers?? No, they have a high price tag to begin with, it's their responsibility to recall them before someone dies! Someone else contacted a government agency in Canada in regards to safety issues, we can do the same. Maybe then Can Am will step up to their design problems! Feedback anyone?

Transport Canada is the organization that people would contact in regards to frames bending. This organization then has to investigate the problem. If more people contact them, the company will be forced to do something about it before someone gets seriously hurt.
Let's all contact them!

I have 3 Can Am Outlander Max 400's & 500 and the one I bought last year with ONLY 250 miles on it, has a BENT FRAME !! The shop talked to BP and they offered a new frame, but no labor!! This was not done due to damage and the company needs to stand behind their product! Not only can Transport Canada be contacted, but the MN Attorney general and the MN lemon law org. I will not accept this from this company and neither should anyone else. All it takes is a phone call to one of these organizations to get the ball rolling...........

I finished my frame strengthening project. I used the instructions that I posted earlier on this thread. It took me about 4 hours working in the Houston heat, luckily I was able to at least find some shade. Unfortuneately I don't know when I will be in the mountains where I like to ride. My frame had several dents in the bottom that made for some heavy hammering to get the job finished.

I agree as well the Can-am is a beast of a machine as long as you can keep it in running condition. Can-am knows their frames are weak they dont care. I have a brand new Can-am 650 XT it was a mean machine until on the second time out the lower swing-arm pulled completely out of the frame. I had just bought the machine and it only being the second time out, less than 10 hrs on the machine I figured the warranty would cover this. Boy was I wrong can-am will not and would not stand behind their product. They talk it up and give advertisments as though they are the best on the market go anywhere do anything all while doing it better than any other name brand atv's. LIES is all I have to say it might do better if you can keep it together however the pop metal frame doesnt cut it. I was traveling less than 15 mph and skidded accross a rock on a trail and the swing arm pulls completely out of the frame. You should be able to take a sledge hammer to the swing arm and it may disfigure the swing arm but it should never come out of the frame. That is simply a design error and they refuse to fix their problem blaming me for rough driving. I guess that is the problem with the other dissatified can-am owners I have talked to. I call can-am and they say its an insurance problem. I have ridden my entire life and never needed insurance before. Thre product is flawed and they refuse to back their own product; its a disgrace. I will never buy another one as long as I live. I don't care if the other atv's are less capable so say they; they will at least stay together and if something goes wrong they will stand behind their product, unlike the Canadians at BRP. I am throughly upset with this and will let everyone know how BRP products really are and not how they so advertise. I asked how much it would be for me to pay out of pocket to have this fixed on a brand new machine I had just purchased three weeks prior to the problem arrival and they reply $2200.00; on top of them already $7500.00 I paid for the product. It is outrageous and Im not through letting the world know of their products by any means. I am one of many with the same problem and the same complaints on the company. They are good machines when you can keep them together. I guess they (BRP) expects one to only ride accross grass in an open field with their machines. Completely unlike their advertisements showing going thru head high mud and pull unreal amounts of weight and out running the competition in all aspects. I am waiting on a law suite to take place where some one hits a bump in an open field and their frame crushes beneath them causing a horrific wreck all due to weak really junk frames. Cause it wont take 75mph or more to die when the frame crushes and the atv roles it will do so at 25 or 35mph. It really is unsafe and going to get a lot of people hurt. SO if you are purchasing a can-am, don't or even thinking about it don't if you have bought one sell it if possible and in the mean time get insurance for when not if but when your frame causes you to wreck if you are lucky and not to get hurt than you will want your atv fixed at least cause heaven knows BRP wont fix it for you. If you still have one that works strengthen the frame immediately. I now have a brand new can-am 650 xt paper weight cause I cant afford another $2200. to fix the problem that BRP Ca-am should have fixed under the warranty that I had for six months. Which I now know why it is such a sort warranty they know their trash will fall apart and dont want to fix anything and thereby hope it last 6 months. There is so much to say about the piece of junk however I don't have a week to write it out. Thanks

I had bought a 2009 800XT and Im regreating it. I had aluminum Arm protectors put on protect my arms from rocks boy was that a mistake all that did was transfer the force of a hitting a rock at 8mph to the fame cause 6000 dollars worth of damage. Not covered by warrenty. Shitty frame I went from a big can-am buff to hating them over night my only regret is after getting mine I have friends that bought them based on my reviews.

Yes I know what you mean I am in the process of looking for an attorney to help me on this very thing right now. I have bought a brand new can-am and only on the 2nd time out the frame buckled and the a-arm pulled completely out of the frame it is amazing that I escaped unscathed. I am seeing about a class action law suite against the company for damages done and to fix their so called top of the line machines before someone dies unneedingly. If anyone is interested in joining me on this send a message to me with your name and contact # so I can forward them on to the attorney. Thanks and be safe

I was borrowing a friends can am, was driving extremely careful, (seeing how it wasn't mine), and hit a tree, going no more than 15 mph. The frame buckled, and pretty much disabled the ATV. Now I am going to have to pay for this piece of crap ATV that I don't even own. If your really are going to try a class action law suit, I'm all for it. My name is Graham, phone number 360-550-3728. I recommend all who have this problem join in. This is ridiculous. I could have been seriously injured, because of a design flaw.

honestly iam sad to see you guys are having trouble, but iam glad that someone is finally standing up and doing something.
the company will not change the quality unless they are forced to. unfortunately some atv manufacturers simply dont care about the quality because they can just blame it on rider error rather than admit a defect. it takes consumers willing to stand up to make the change happen.
Keep it RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!

i strengthened my frame by welding a strip of 1/4"hardened plate from the winch straight to the trailer hitch(the whole length of the frame)on the bottom.i followed brp's welding parameters and have had no more problems, and i am as hard on it as i can be.might be the strongest outlander around.
